PokerStars Ontario shut down on the 7th of May 2026 ahead of its move to FanDuel. Flutter, the owner of PokerStars and FanDuel, is combining the two brands under the FanDuel platform in Ontario. PokerStars will be available in Ontario exclusively on FanDuel.

PokerStars Moving to FanDuel in Ontario

The move to FanDuel was announced by PokerStars Ontario in March 2026. From the 7th May, online poker, casino, or sports betting, will no longer be offered at PokerStars. The company has stated that player accounts will remain accessible until June 4, 2026 and any funds that haven't been withdrawn by then will be sent to players in the form of a check.

PokerStars Exclusively on FanDuel

In the United States, PokerStars Exclusively on FanDuel launched on the 1st April in Michigan, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The PokerStars Ontario closed on May 7, but an official launch date for the new version on FanDuel hasn't been released. In a statement, PokerStars said, "this requires a short period where the PokerStars tables will close down ahead of relaunch and to ensure we're fulfilling regulatory requirements."

FanDuel Ontario will be adding peer-to-peer online poker from PokerStars to their existing online casino and sports betting platform.

The move also comes ahead of FanDuel entering the Alberta iGaming market which is launching on 13 July 2026. FanDuel has been approved for a license by the AGLC to offer sports betting and online casinos in Alberta and PokerStars may be a part of their Alberta strategy too.

PokerStars at FanDuel to Offer Best-In-Class Poker Experience

The online poker experience that PokerStars on FanDuel will offer is going to be available through a dedicated FanDuel poker app and a desktop site that will be accessible through existing or new FanDuel accounts. There will be one account and wallet for the online poker, sportsbook, and casino offering.

According to FanDuel, once the transition is completed, the existing PokerStars Ontario site will go offline and a FanDuel account will be required by anyone in Ontario that wants to play PokerStars. It is expected that welcome offers will be available for both new PokerStars signups on FanDuel and those with existing PokerStars accounts.

PokerStars has long been a renowned brand for online poker and it is licensed in Ontario to provide online poker, sports betting, and casino.
