Online poker fans in Ontario will soon be able to play PokerStars poker games at the FanDuel online casino and sportsbook. Flutter is the owner of both and is uniting the two brands under the FanDuel name in Ontario. PokerStars exclusively on FanDuel will launch in Ontario soon.
PokerStars Confirms Move to FanDuel in Ontario
PokerStars has publicly confirmed that PokerStars will be exclusively on FanDuel in Ontario very soon as well as in its three US markets, namely, Michigan, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
This move will add even more to FanDuel Ontario. The peer-to-peer online poker from PokerStars will join the Ontario online sports betting and casino offering already available at FanDuel in the province.
FanDuel has also applied for a license to enter the Alberta iGaming market which is expected to launch in the summer. With PokerStars being included in the brand, this may also become part of the plan for the Alberta launch as well.
An Even Better Experience at FanDuel
FanDuel is hoping to create the best poker experience with PokerStars being available through a dedicated FanDuel run poker app and desktop site that will be accessible with existing and new FanDuel accounts. In the same way the users can access the FanDuel Online Casino and Sportsbook through one login, they will also be able to access the online poker offering from PokerStars.
FanDuel haven't confirmed an official launch date for PokerStars on FanDuel in Ontario, but the FAQs PokerStars Ontario states that progressive jackpots on the site will shut down on the 5th of May 2026, PokerStars Rewards will also end but a date for this has not been listed.
Once PokerStars moved to FanDuel players in Ontario will be required to create a FanDuel account to play PokerStars.
PokerStars is an online poker brand that has been in operation for nearly 25 years, and it is a licensed gambling site in Ontario. It is approved to offer online poker, sports betting, and casino games.
Cross-Border Online Poker Play
FanDuel integrating with PokerStars in the US will have a shared pool of players as those in Michigan, New Jersey and Pennsylvania will be able to play against each other. However, in Ontario this won't be the case as peer-to-peer online poker in Ontario remains within the provincial borders.
This could change though with the pending legal challenge in the Supreme Court of Canada after the Ontario Court of Appeal in November 2025 issued an opinion that it would be lawful under the Criminal Code for Ontario to let P2P players compete with players in other countries.
This has been appealed by the Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries (MBLL), the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) and the Atlantic Lottery Corporation (ALC). These lotteries are all members of the Canadian Lottery Coalition (CLC), which opposed the idea of cross-border play.
There are a number of licensed and regulated poker sites in Ontario including PokerStars, GGPoker, 888 Poker, and BetMGM Poker, but the revenue for online poker is limited as players like to compete against other people online and cross-border play could add more appeal.
FanDuel Collaboration with Wazdan
FanDuel isn't just adding online poker to its sports betting and casino platform in Ontario. They have also completed a new content distribution agreement with Wazdan. This is facilitated by Light & Wonder's aggregation platform and will see FanDuel add titles such as Wazdan's 36 coins to its offering as well as Wazdan's player engagement boosting tools like Cash Infinity, Hold the Jackpot, and Sticky to Infinity mechanics.
In a press release, Wazdan's Head of Sales, Radka Bacheva, said, "Partnering with FanDuel represents a major milestone in Wazdan's North American growth strategy and underlines the strong demand for our engagement-driven portfolio across regulated markets."
Wazdan is a licensed iGaming supplier in Ontario since 2022 and launched its games in the province in April 2023 with Caesars. In 2024 it expanded into Quebec with an deal with Loto-Quebec.
